How can I improve the buffering on the videos. It is worse with Microsoft Edge than with Chrome
Collrob 1 year 5 months ago
In the area where there's the indicator showing where you are in the video, there's a lighter gray bar behind it. I suggest you start the video and then immediately stop it, and let that lighter gray bar completely fill up to the right. Once it has filled up, you won't see the video hesitate (buffer) again after you re-start it by pressing the play button again.

It's so good to learn characters, and I want to do this in a correct way. Every time when I watch a video there are long interruptions. It takes me minimal half an hour to get to the next character explanation. My (new) ProBook Hewlett Packard computer has already been checked by maintenance. So please could you be so kind and tell me what to do to see the video's in a proper speed without interruptions? Kind regards and thanks in advance Marjo

I am also having the same issues. The videos are so high quality that they do not stream at all well unless you have super internet connections. The videos would be every bit as watchable if they were less HD. It is such a problem for me that I often give up trying to watch the video which is of course very frustrating.

The system is supposed to be able to detect what sort of resolution the network can support for continuous streaming and then switch to a video with that resolution, but even the lowest resolution video available may not be low enough depending on where you are. You can try right clicking on the video and selecting the lowest resolution, in case the automated detection is not doing a good enough job. Try the switching between HTML5 and Flash too (also available via right-click).

Hi Marjo, I'm another student here and don't have any problems watching the videos. Are you you are watching these videos from another continent? If that is the case, the end-to-end network may just be too slow to support non-stop streaming video. One thing you could try is to start the video then stop it immediately, leave that window or tab open, then come back an hour or so later and the video should have downloaded completely. At that point you ought to be able to watch it non-stop.

What a great set of course notes and lecture slides. Very well presented and thought out. Very clever the way new words are also slipped in, so when we meet them a little further on they will not be intimidating.
